Staffordshire University is on a journey to become the foremost modern higher education institution in the UK, with an international reputation for excellence, and we are looking for inspirational and effective people to take us to the next stage.
In 2018 we broke into the World University rankings for the first time and were named as a top 50 UK university by the Guardian. The quality of our student experience has placed us in the top 10 for teaching quality in the Sunday Times Good University Guide 2018 and in 2019 we achieved a Gold rating in the Teaching Excellence Framework.
Many of our students come from areas with low rates of participation in higher education and we continually strive to ensure the courses we offer meet the needs of people and employers. We are expanding our non-traditional, flexible study options, particularly in apprenticeships serving the public sector.
You can join us at a time when we begin the next step of our transformation journey. The new £40m Catalyst Building will deliver 6,500 new apprentices in the next decade, boosting both the local and national economy. The development of our offer to new academic areas and geographic locations will see us expand our reach and make an innovative offer to a new generation of students.
We are a university of and for our community: local, national and global. If you share our values and have the skills to deliver our vision, we want to hear from you.
We are seeking a brilliant, friendly, ambitious and inspirational paramedic or nurse, to deliver the Advanced Forensic Practitioner Apprenticeship and associated awards.
The role would include such activities as:
- Preparing and delivering teaching and learning activity on various aspects of the Advanced Forensic Practice Apprenticeship, associated postgraduate Awards and other Health justice Courses.
- Delivery of clinical skills, theory teaching, personal tutoring, and assessment.
- Enhancement of the student experience and facilitating ongoing course evaluation and development.
- Engaging with and developing innovative and effective teaching methods to enhance student engagement and achievement.
- Contributing to student recruitment and ongoing promotion of the courses.
The successful applicant will have extensive experience and knowledge of working as a forensic practitioner in either a Custody or Sexual Assault setting. A registered adult or mental health nurse, or a registered paramedic and will be very familiar with the requirements of the forensic Practitioner role. Effective teamwork and excellent communication skills are essential. Formal teaching experience in higher education is preferred but is not essential for the Lecturer (Grade 7) post.
The School of Health and Social Care’s ambition is to ensure we develop the safest practitioners in the sector. To this end patient safety and simulation-based education is a key strand of our work and we would particularly welcome applicants with a passion for patient safety and simulation.
Applicants must hold a relevant professional qualification and undergraduate degree and registration with the HCPC if a paramedic or Nursing and Midwifery Council as a registered adult\mental health nurse is essential.
We are committed to promoting a diverse and inclusive community – a place where all can be ourselves and succeed on merit.
This post will require the successful candidate to work across the two campus sites (Stoke and Stafford) of the School.
